Current release status

WARDOGS is not publicly released. The official Steam page lists Steam Early Access in 2026, and official June updates describe active closed pre-alpha testing. BULKHEAD has said Early Access is planned for later in 2026, but has not announced a month or day.

The safest current wording is: WARDOGS is planned for Steam Early Access in 2026 and is currently in closed pre-alpha testing.

Early Access plan

Steam currently says:

  • Early Access is expected to last approximately one to two years, although the duration may change with development and feedback.
  • The Early Access build represents the playable core vision: up to 100 players, three teams, dynamic objective zones, cash and XP progression, grounded gunplay, vehicles, logistics, support play and proximity voice chat.
  • The full version is intended to add more maps, weapons, vehicles, gameplay variety, progression, a seasonal metagame and objective variations.
  • Fighter jets and expanded weapon categories are examples of planned additions.
  • Performance, stability and balance remain ongoing priorities.
  • The Early Access price is planned to be lower than the eventual full-release price.

Closed pre-alpha tests

BULKHEAD said it had been testing with a small player group for several months by June 2026. A test on 26 June 2026 was expanded from 1,000 to 5,000 newly invited players after increased signups. Signing up never guaranteed selection.

On 1 July, the official WARDOGS account said another time-limited test for existing testers was running across six servers. Its infographic summarized a two-day weekend test:

Statistic Total
Cash earned $805 million
Cash spent $341 million
Kills 100,257
Revives 44,271
Headshots 45,614
Heals 33,108
Teamkills 1,225
Tower captures 5,118

The same infographic reported 36% of role XP as Infantry, 24% Medic, 15% Recon, 12% Pilot, 9% Support and 4% Driver. These are aggregate test statistics, not final balance targets or a public-player count.

Use the official signup for future tests. Do not buy access or trust anyone promising a guaranteed invitation.
